SJFCC vs Garden Fields

SJFCC vs Garden Fields
2005-07-19. Loss by 49 runs By Dave Boxer

Result: Garden Fields, 143 for 5 from 20 overs; Fishers, 94 for 8 from 20 overs.

A truly terrible performance by Fishers, who were deservedly hammered on the day. This will be a short and not so sweet report of the match.

Dave lost the toss and we were put into the field. James Rosson bowled well and was unlucky to go for 22, but picked up a wicket in his 3rd and final over, removing McCallister LBW.

Bungle got clattered in his first 2 overs but pulled back some respectability in his 3rd, Boxer removed the opener middle stump, Jim-Bob bowled OK, Malc bowled the no.3 with a good quicker ball, Matt bowled a cracking first couple of overs – taking a wicket thanks to a Bungle catch with his thighs – but was hit a bit in his third, and Bullet bowled a good couple of overs at the end, taking a wicket, again thanks to a Bungle catch from a ball dropping over his shoulder.

The truth is though, for the most part the bowling wasn’t up to scratch and the fielding was diabolical.

143 was always going to be a difficult target to reach, and this wasn’t made any easier when Rosson was caught at backward point in the 2nd over for 5. Bullet followed soon after for 7, and although Dave and Mark put on a decent 3rd wicket stand (the former scoring 28 not out and the latter 19), we never looked like catching up with the run rate, and wickets continued to fall.

Bungle went for yet another goldie, Malc departed run out for 2, Matt and Rafi each went for 2 and Magnet was the last wicket, bowled for a golden duck on the last ball. Jim-Bob carried his bat for a well-earned 16.

Man of the match – Nobody.
