SJFCC vs Garden Fields

SJFCC vs Garden Fields
2006-06-14. Lose by 25 runs By Dave Boxer

Result: Garden Fields 103 for 4 from 20 overs; Fishers 78 all out from 16.5 overs.

A bad loss this. We began fairly brightly, getting both openers before the score reached 25, but the no.3 made a good 34 not out, followed by a 26 not out from the no.4. The HOunslow brothers had taken the openers, Adam’s bowled and Matt’s caught behind by Martin after some excellent quick bowling.

Two run outs off sucessive balls then occured, with Dan attempting to claim both as his own wickets.

The Fishers innings got off to the worst possible start, when Cox, superb with the bat all season, had a lapse of concentration and hit a full toss straight to cover for a duck. This was mainly down to Jakubowski on the sideline commenting that ‘Andrew hasn’t been out ths season yet has he?’ two seconds before.

Adam also departed cheaply before Jakubowski made up for his misplaced comment by hitting a determined 23, before being bowled. Rafo went for 7 and Reevo made a duck (catching up with Boxer), and the slide continued with Bungle (2), Martin C (2), before Dan restored some hope with a tasty 15.

However, it couldn’t last and Boxer was caught at point for 5 before Jacobs had a lapse of concentration and was caught after a big heave-ho and Little was bowled for a duck to bring an end to a pretty sorry innings.

Man of the match: Martin J, for a good knock and catch behind the sticks to dismiss the opener.
