SJFCC vs BSCC
2004-05-23. Win By Andy Harris
Sunday was a gorgeous day for cricket, it was a lively pitch outfield was a bit of a meadow, however the captain and the new exciting all-rounder were stuck in the traffic in Chiswick discussing the merits of extinguishing stupid people from the gene pool and destroying certain parts of South London, if not in its totality, so i have no idea who won the toss, but when I arrived we were batting.
At the crease a great partnership of Nick Perchard and Ethan Fogarty. They got us to a solid start and so the innings continued through the order. Great contributions swinging the willow all the way down, Sandy 22, Perchard 20ish (sorry no score book in front of me), Helen Fawgar (Prof Dawkins totty!) 15ish, yours truly a quickfire 20 and innings of the match, the soon to be intelligent, Dave Boxer with 54. The batting was completed with Christie at 10 and our debutant all-rounder Jon Walmsleyey at 9. Altogether a good innings of 159 for 8 on a lively bouncy wicket.
After the tea break we took the field with fire in our bellies and started as we meant to go on. Jon Walmsleyey from one end with a very tidy spell of medium pace swing bowling missing the edge to many times to count. Mao at the other end… A call of “early wicket fat-boy” was obliged with a fast inswinging yorker first up, which took the leg stump to the cleaners.
Bowling contined with the same vigour from both ends all the way down the 8 bowlers used. Boxer, Perchard, Sandie, Mark Edwards, Helen Fawgar and Ethan Fogarty. I apologise as I have no-ones figures and the wickets, but Nick 2, Me 2, Dave 1, Sandy 2, Mark E 1 and a run out (I think from memory). But i think best bowling to Ethan, came on at the end 3-2-2-0 (the two runs given away were for a wide and a no-ball). However Ethans throw in to Chris behind the sticks for the run out was near on perfection after a running one handed pick up.
Well done one and all for a good team performance in the field with great fielding effort throughout and stuck at it on a lively pitch.
Quote of the day “Loser” (with a big L in the forehead). From D Boxer to A Harris as he sat in the slips after dropping a regulation catch from Sandies bowling.
MOTM: Shared; D Boxer for superb batting and bowling performance. E Fogarty for having the balls to open up on a lively wicket against a good set of bowlers, good bowling and great fielding.
Yours truly
